Prizes

Eight (8) finalists will receive a $500 cash award and a trip to Wichita, Kan., to compete on Saturday, June 25, 2011, for additional cash prizes as outlined below. Trip includes round-trip economy coach air transportation for each finalist from the major airport nearest finalist’s home to Wichita Mid-Continent Airport; hotel accommodations consisting of one (1) single or double occupancy room for three (3) nights at the Hilton Wichita Airport Executive Conference Center, Wichita, Kan.; registration, daily meals, ground transportation; and all applicable taxes associated with hotel, meals, ground and air transportation. The approximate retail value of each finalist package is $1,500. Gratuity and other expenses are the sole responsibility of each finalist. In addition, the eight (8) finalists will be invited on a Wheat Harvest Tour in the Heartland, including visiting a working Kansas wheat farm, flour mill and grain elevator, on Friday, June 24, 2011.

Best of Bread Grand Prize
One Grand Prize Winner will be chosen from the four Category Winners. The Grand Prize Winner will receive a trip to attend a baking class of his or her choice at the King Arthur Flour Baking Education Center in Norwich, Vt. The trip includes class tuition, hotel, and airfare to and from Vermont, plus $2,000 cash (total prize value not to exceed $4,000; tuition maximum $500). King Arthur Flour Baking Education Center classes are posted online. In addition, the Grand Prize Winner will receive a year's supply (120 envelopes) of Fleischmann’s Yeast.

Special Awards: In addition to eight (8) finalists’ awards and the Grand Prize, four (4) special awards of $500 cash may be given depending on entries received:

  • Best Recipe Using White Whole Wheat Flour (at least 75% white whole wheat flour in recipe)
  • Best Recipe Using Cranberries
  • Best Recipe Using Raisins
  • Best Bread Sculpture (You must attach a photo, the recipe, and detailed instructions on how to shape the bread).

Special Award winners, chosen from among eligible entries, may not be guaranteed a spot as one of the eight finalists and need not be present to win.
